The new Paris-Saclay University has just been created by decree. It will come into force on 1 January 2020. Until then, a period of maximum four months will open, during which a provisional administration will organize the elections of the board of governors and set up the institutions of governance.
As of January 1, 2020, Paris-Saclay University will replace Université Paris-Sud and the Community of Universities and Institutions "Université Paris-Saclay" and will integrate as component institutions that retain their legal personality, under the conditions specified in its statutes, the Institut des sciences et industries du vivant et de l'environnement (AgroParisTech), CentraleSupélec, Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay and the Institut d'Optique Graduate School. It also includes the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques, a research organization - a foundation recognized as being of public utility.
As member-associated universities by agreement, it brings together the Universities of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and the University of Evry, which participate in its governance with a view to a merger by 2025. The CEA, CNRS, INRA, INRA, INRIA, INSERM and ONERA confirm their strengthened partnership with the new Paris-Saclay University. The scientific perimeter includes the laboratories of these national research organisations within the perimeter of Paris-Saclay University, listed by agreement. The national research organisations are involved in the governance of the establishment.
